Dude is a total idiot, but still manages to accomplish so much and even get the girl in the end. Kind of an allegory to the whole American Dream, really. Also, because it's Tom friggin' Hanks.
The one with a Face.
Seriously though, I just finished The Zombie Survivial Guide and liked it. I guess my favorite genres of books would be historical, historical fiction, sci fi, military, biographical and pretty much any variation of the previous. I used to read the the encyclopedia sometimes in grade school during reading time. Browsing random Wikipedia articles is a frequent pastime of mine.
The short answer is what sort of food do I NOT like. I'm really not all that picky or discriminating when it comes to food. I guess my answer would have to be rice and/or potatoes. There's just so many ways to prepare them and they go with almost anything.
When I get old and retire, I think I would like to travel the world and eat. I probably won't have to worry so much about my belt line and so I could eat all the delicious food I want.
Really been into The Black Keys lately. Anything with a good beat or a base rythm is sure to be on any playlist of mine. Have a bit of an eclectic taste in music.
Utilitarian, understated, nothing flashy. Jeans, cargo pants or shorts with comfortable shoes and whatever weather appropriate shirts. I clean up nicely when I need to and know how to tie a tie; not that I have many opportunities to do so, that is. My chest and shoulders are my best physical features so I sometimes like to hint at that in my choice in clothing.
Dry, sometimes sardonic and a little self-depreciating. Access to late night television as a kid, the public school system, and spending a few years in the Army has warped my sense of humor somewhat. I love the type of jokes where they've gotta be delivered in a good deadpan. I do like a well timed pun here and there too. I'm not much of a joker, but I do have my moments and crack the ocassional one liner. Definitely wouldn't be the funny guy in any group of people. Yeah, not really a plus when most women are looking for a guy who can make 'em laugh.
Alot of my free time is spent playing video games, honestly. I'm pretty good in not letting that particular hobby bleed into time that needs to be spent on more important things. Don't get me wrong, I like to play games, but I'd much rather spend time with my girl. Unless you're into that too. Major points on my scale for a woman who can and will kick my trash online. z5blue on XBL.
Other than gaming, I've been in the habit of taking afternoon runs. Not really my first choice in leisure activities, but I've been doing it long enough that I feel guilty for missing a day's run. I joined a running group to help keep me motivated, but I'm not too interested in marathons. The Spartan Race or Tough Mudder seem like a fun idea though.
I have a Jeep Wrangler and I like taking it off road on long weekends to national parks. I enjoy being outdoors hiking, camping and taking in the sights. Except in the winter; I hate the cold.
I own firearms and regularly go to ranges to keep up on fundamentals and relieve stress. Aside from the loud noises, I think it's pretty zen, actually. Really appeals to my meticulous nature.
I've been to South Korea a couple times for work. Didn't get to experience as much of the country as I would have preferred, but I liked what I did see. Does the French part of Canada count? 'Cause that was definitely an experience too. Could get to go to the Philippines sometime in the near future, so I'm excited about that. Not really much of a traveller (outside of work), but I like to visit anywhere the food is good.
I'm interested in meeting new, different people. I think as long as we share similar values, I could get along well with a partner from a different culture.
I suppose I could be flexible about it if I thought the relationship was worth pursuing in the first place.
I've never been able to plan something and pull it off successfully, so I'm not sure I could do a "perfect romantic weekend". Won't be for lack of trying, that's for sure. As long as I get to spend time with someone and she's happy, I'll be happy too.
Quiet and reserved. I'm not trying be some type of mysterious archetype, I'm pretty open about anything you wanna ask. I can be obsessive compulsive about some of the things I do. Luckily, my short attention span usually stops me before I'm at the point of counting carpet threads.
Duty, Honor, and Integrity are values I look for in others and try and uphold myself to as well. I can't stand liars, thieves and people who'll smile to your face while they stab you in the back.
Being known as a trustworthy person to others is an aspect about myself that I am careful to maintain. I would not demand this trait in a romantic partner if it was not one that I valued highly as one of my own.
I'll answer this when I've got that figured out. Probably be deleting this profile soon afterward.
